- Synopsis
- At the beginning of the documentary we dive into Prince’s music journey. It goes into the “main struggle with his record label Warner Bros in the 90s and how he was later influential in promoting and distributing music via alternative methods.” This sets the backdrop for the documentary.
  
  Already over five hours of ten people being interviewed were completed for the documentary thus far. Prince’s story is a great example of how the music industry affects the artist in a significant way. Prince sets the backdrop for the documentary for discussing the current issues of the music industry artists face constantly.
  
  For the A Part of the story line there will be interviews with artists who are enjoying being in a major record label vs. artists who are enjoying their own independent label. For B Part of the story line is Prince’s struggle. Again, his story is a great representation of what artists go through in the music industry.
  
  Through the second act will show the interviews of the artist who are with an independent label and those with who are in a major recording label.
  By the end of the documentary, the audience will get a sense of what the music industry is like for artists and how it significantly impacts their art. The audience will be able to draw their own conclusions on how they feel about the music industry.
  
  A Story: How is it working as an artist in the music industry today? We will be comparing big record labels vs. independent labels. How are these artists impacted?
  
  B Story: Prince’s story. The music industry. How did it impact him as an artist? How did he break free from the big record labels?
