    • Synopsis
    • Worldwide there are an estimated 8 million children living in institutions; nearly 400,000 are in Latin America. Children who live in institutions are four times more likely to experience sexual violence and six times more likely to encounter physical violence than children in family care (UNICEF). PENDING FILE is a fictional narrative inspired by the children who lived it.

Urban city in Latin America...14-year-old Miguel “Migue” Sanchez huddles in a corner, a black welt masks his eye and blood trickles off his lips. Mig is taken to Ciudad Cariño where he meets the orphanage director, Mr. Montenegro. He is told, “The rules are basic. Violence, never. Respect, always.” However, the first night Mig is attacked by a group of boys led by 17-year-old Reyes. Physical violence becomes the least of Mig’s problems when Rolon, rapes Mig in the shower room.

Befriending 16-year-old Isla, Mig learns her secret and devises a plan of escape - to reunite Isla with her baby son and gain freedom from Ciudad Cariño. But when Mig and Isla are found out, life hands him two options; protect himself or make the ultimate sacrifice.
