    • Synopsis
    • NATE POOLE, a once-famous trumpet player, has fallen to playing gigs in a Caribbean island strip joint after his wife died of an overdose and he did a stint in jail for drugs. Though finally sober, Nate is only left with his trumpet and the bartender at the club where he plays for comfort. After having an affair with a gangster’s wife, Nate is held captive to be killed in the middle of the Mexican desert. Miraculously, Nate is able to escape with the help of some running Tarahumara Indians, but is left stranded. Searching for help, he stumbles upon a carnival and meets LILY, a beautiful woman with enormous white feathered “angel” wings growing out of her back. Smitten, he convinces her to come to Los Angeles with him, thinking that he will be able to use her to settle his debt with the gangster. Despite his bad intentions, Nate continues to fall for Lily, and the feeling is mutual. Ultimately, their happiness is short lived when the gangster decides that he wants Lily all for himself. Nate blacklisted in all of the Los Angeles jazz clubs and he becomes incredibly depressed, even though Lily has made it clear that she still loves him. Witnessing Lily’s exploitation by the gangster and his crew, Nate becomes outraged and goes to her rescue. To save them, Nate convinces Lily that she can fly and they escape together into the sky, together at last.
