- January 6, 1980. Freedom Street, Palermo. Piersanti Mattarella, President of the Sicilian Reiion, is shot and killed as soon as he enters his car to go to church with his wife, children and mother-in-law. At first the crime was deemed to the a terrorist attack, as a self-styled. neo-fascist group immediately claimed resposability for the killing. Later on, a much darker and more intricate plot came to light, involving the sicilian Mafia, the Magliana band and the corrupt politics of the time.
  Aurelio Grimaldi portrays this unsolved case with a carefull and sensitive eye in a film that took years of research and study of chronicles and court records, He wont to deliver the most thruthful perspective on this dark episode of Italian history.
