- Synopsis
- One hundred years ago, the fox-spirit [is this right? Is she a fox spirit?] Xiao Wei sacrificed herself to save the lifes of Wang Sheng and his wife Pei Rong. After the passage of a hundred years, Xiao Wei magically returned to life. Transforming herself into a seductively beautiful woman, she set off on a journey, a quest to become a real human being, one who can love and be loved.
  General Wang Ying has been garrisoned on China's western border for all these years, just as his father was before him. In his heart lay hidden a moving story that his forefathers told: the story of a beautiful woman who sacrificed herself for the true love of her life. A portrait of this mysterious woman, painted on silk, has been passed down from generation to generation. Wang Ying was obsessed with the woman whose image is on this portrait.
  Many years ago, General Wang Ying rescued the King’s favorite daughter, Princess Jing from an accident. The unpleasant incident disfigured Princess Jing for life. But she fell in love with her saviour Wang Ying and decided to follow him to the western frontier.
  A twist of fate brought Princess Jing and General Wang Ying together with Xiao Wei at the frontier. Wang Ying was amazed by how closely Xiao Wei resembled the mysterious woman in the silk portrait.
  When Xiao Wei disclosed her true demon identity to Princess Jing, she also revealed "All men without exception are obsessed with me. This includes General Wang Ying."
  They thereupon make a deal: Princess Jing desires Xiao Wei's beautiful face; in exchange she is willing to hand over to the demon her own beating heart …
