    • Synopsis
    • As the Shiva, the 7 days of mourning in the Jewish tradition, is about to end, EYAL’s (45) fear of coping with the loss of his son grows deeper. After 7 days of being cuddled by family & friends he is now expected to start adjusting to the new circumstances that has been forced upon him and his wife, VICKY (42).
Eyal refuses to go to the last common visit to the grave with Vicky and instead goes to the place where his son was still alive – the hospice, where he finds a bag of medicinal marijuana which used to ease the son’s pain in his last days. Now, he’s entitled to ease his own pain.
On the 8th day, while Vicky goes back to work at the elementary school, Eyal breaks his promise to her to go back to his routine and work, and secretly skips work to stay at home, determined to roll a joint for the first time and get high. But putting the weed into the rolling paper and wrapping it up without it scattering becomes mission impossible… So he contacts the son of who used to be his best friend and neighbor, sushi delivery boy – ZOOLER (28), with whom he spends the day smoking, playing games, singing songs, fighting and confessing.
But before you know it the weed bag is empty while the desire for getting high and forgetting is still there. Eyal and Zooler embark on a journey together – back to the hospice, to score more. When the hospice workers show them the door, they decide to add a third member to their adventure, BAR (6), who’s been spending most of her time at the hospice next to her dying mom and used to be good friends with Eyal’s son.
Vicky who is hurt by finding her husband breaking the promise with Zooler, goes on her own journey to cope. She rigorously tries to go back to her routine life; getting rid of stray kittens that were recently born in her backyard, fighting over a dentist appointment and trying to rehash broken relationships – Vicky finds out that the routine will never be what it was.
"Ending Song" is about what happens to you on the 8th day – the day you are expected to go back to your life, but instead you start a new one.
