- Synopsis
- Marita is a transgender woman in her 60s living in a small town of Entre Rios, Argentina. Her sexual impulses drove her to have an operation years ago to adopt her true gender identity, going from Juan Carlos to Marita.
  But it wasn’t just her who went through these drastic changes in her life. Her ex wife, Mercedes, who Marita is still deeply in love with, found herself affected by Marita’s transgender, just like the rest of her family, which ultimately led to their separation.
  The decision for her gender change also has repercussions in her work environment. Company, one of the partners at the clerkship which Marita partly owns, informs her that no client in town wants to see her and forces her to sell her share in the company. Deep down, Marita has no interest to continue working there. the clerkship is just the last connection she has with her ex-wife, who is also a partner.
  One afternoon, after making an order at the local Chinese supermarket, Marita meets Sensei; a young Asian man who, just like her, is a misunderstood and solitary soul. Sensei’s aspirations go beyond the family responsibilities he is culturally forced into. He doesn’t want to work in the supermarket for the rest of his life, he wants to live freely. She decides to help him on this journey of self discovery accompanying him to take pictures of a young prostitute in the city, giving him advice about assuming his identity and encouraging him to keep going.
  Marita finds herself at the clerkship with Company again, thinking that Mercedes will also be joining them to sort out the selling issue. However, to her surprise, her ex wife is absent and instead sends a letter explaining that she will sell her share and wishes to never see her again.
  Marita decides to go to the private community where Mercedes lives to convince her to not sell her shares in the clerkship, but her real intentions are much deeper; she wants to make her understand that she is the same person she met even if her gender has changed arguing that it was her body that changed, not her soul or her feelings.
  Finally, after a long talk where Mercedes and Marita argue about the consequences of her gender change in both their lives, Marita accepts having lost her ex wife’s love once and for all. Their daughter shows up and tells her father (because she still fulfills the father role despite her sex change) that the school where her grandchildren go have asked Marita to stop picking up the kids given that, among other reasons, it has driven her daughter to separate from her husband. Marita understands that her decisions have altered the lives of everyone around her, not just hers. Without anything left to say, she leaves Mercedes’s house.
  The next day, at the supermarket where Sensei works, he hides from Marita and finally accepts his family responsibilities. Marita returns to her solitude, conserving her identity as a woman in a world where Trans sexuality is a misunderstood phenomenon by the rest of society.
