The fifties in a small village in the Dolomites. Domenico, premature and introverted, lives together with his father Pietro, who’s alcoholic and an outsider in the village community. One night, a peasant’s stall gets struck by another attack of the "diàol”, a savage bear that kills sheep and fuels the superstitious fear of the villagers. Pietro seizes his last chance to regain his reputation and ventures out to kill the animal alone. But Domenico won’t allow his father to abandon him for good.
