- Synopsis
- NINA (32) lives a self-determined life as an actress and mother in Amsterdam. But the funeral of her grandmother MARIE pulls her out. She returns to her hometown in the Ruhr area, where she is confronted with a mindset and customs she cannot seem to relate to anymore. In addition, there are the deep-seated patterns and repressed problems of a forgotten family life. In the middle of it all is Nina's mother KONNIE (58), who takes charge of organizing the funeral in order to hide her grief, or rather avoid the question of how to come to terms with a mother whose appreciation she had sorely missed.
  
  For the first time, Nina begins to take an interest in her mother's feelings, yet subconsciously - but time is running out until the eulogy.
  
  While Nina's inglorious offer to play a dreamboat role terrifies her, the funeral festivities keep shifting - And there are still 60 pounds of plums in the kitchen that need to be pitted! With each new cancellation of her return flight, Nina starts changing perspective. At the end, Konnie gets closer to Nina than ever before. So why not take a turn on Dreamboat? Granny MARIE has always liked it.
