The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games were postponed for the first time in modern Olympic history due to a global pandemic of a new type of coronavirus infection, and on July 23, 2021, one year later than originally scheduled, the Games opened amid a whirlwind of controversy and controversy over various problems and issues, including the still-unresolved coronavirus outbreak, the first-ever non-spectator games, and a string of resignations by officials.
