    • Synopsis
    • "Nuyorican Basketball" tells the story of the National Basketball Team of Puerto Rico in 1979, whose players were mostly born or raised in New York. In a dramatic encounter, this team played the final of the XIII Pan American Games against the United States. Twelve athletes, almost all developed hand in hand with African-Americans in New York street basketball, become the hope of the Puerto Rican people during the Cold War. With Raymond Dalmau, Georgie Torres, Charlie Bermúdez, Nestor Cora, among others, this documentary portrays the influence of Nuyoricans in national basketball. It also states how sport, the diaspora and the complex ways of Puerto Rican identity are intertwined and invite to reflect on what Puerto Rico has become now-days.
