    • In the German town of Wisborg, estate agent Thomas Hutter is sent to Transylvania to visit a new client, Count Orlok, who plans to purchase a house across from Hutter's own residence. Upon arriving, Hutter discovers that Orlok is a vampire who spreads plague and death. As Orlok becomes infatuated with Hutter's wife, Ellen, she learns that a pure-hearted woman can destroy the vampire by distracting him until dawn. Ellen sacrifices herself, keeping Orlok occupied until the first light of day, which ultimately destroys him.
