- Synopsis
- The film begins with the mad dash of a horse-drawn carriage racing without a driver through the narrow streets of Bruges. A man is in the carriage, mortally wounded. Strange detail: he wears a costume from the Renaissance.
  
  The victim is a forty-year-old French man, Hugues Viane.
  
  The Flemish police gets in touch with the French one. They have a huge surprise: Hugues Viane has disappeared a year earlier, taking his son Theo with him. The child's mother, Sophie Malfont has lived in anxiety and depression since then.
  
  When her colleague, Vincent Cavalier, informs her that her husband has been found, Sophie finds hope again. She is certain that her son is alive. Is he in Bruges? He might be all by himself since the time his father was discovered almost dead. He might be in danger. Sophie goes to Bruges with her colleague. She is determined to actively participate in the investigation to find her son as quickly as possible.
  
  What was Hugues Viane doing in Bruges? Why is he wearing this strange costume from ancient times? Soon enough we discover that the suit belongs to members of a fraternity in charge of watching over Bruges’ famous relic: the Holy Blood.
  
  A race against the clock sets off! We actually understand that little Theo is locked up in a room and has nothing to eat or drink. His life is in danger.
  
  Gradually the pieces of the puzzle are put together. A story of revenge linked to the suicide of a young girl comes to the surface. Hugues Viane is involved as well as one of his childhood friends, Dirk Leuven, who has also disappeared. Both were members of the fraternity 15 years earlier.
  
  Time is pressing and Sophie’s anxiety rises.
  Dirk Leuven is killed as well. Investigators persist and follow all the leads.
  At the very last moment, little Theo is found and saved.
