- Synopsis
- Late in the fall of 1917, twenty-three year old Dr. Polyakov arrives at the hospital in the provincial town of N. One day, while fighting for the life of a patient, Dr. Polyakov's own life is put in danger. He is saved with an injection of the powerful narcotic morphia. But Polyakov doesn't believe that a sensible man, especially a doctor like himself, can fall victim to a crippling addicition.
