    • Synopsis
    • 1979, Uruguay, years of dictatorship and state terrorism. Javier and Emilio, both 17 years old, young men from an upper-middle-class background, are talking in a public space when they are detained without reason by a group of soldiers and locked in the cells of a military barracks. Days later, Javier is released after his parents gave up their downtown apartment in exchange for his freedom. The family is forced to move to an old house in a peripheral neighborhood across from a cemetery.

Adjusting to the new life is difficult for everyone, but especially for his sister Alicia (14 years old), who doesn't fit in with the neighborhood or the high school, where she is mistreated by her peers. The only person who helps her is Luna (16 years old, brunette, long hair), a mysterious neighbor whom everyone seems to fear, and some say she and her mother are witches.

Javier doesn't mind the new neighborhood, but he is apathetic and suffers from insomnia. He keeps wondering what happened to Emilio. He has tried to investigate, but no one knows anything, and his old house is abandoned. His inquiries draw the attention of the military, who advise his parents to calm him down, as he could get into trouble.

The only thing that breaks Javier out of his apathy is Luna, who shows him the neighborhood, introduces him to new music, and helps him with his insomnia using brews prepared by her mother, Verónica (40 years old, brunette, tall, somewhat eerie appearance). Over time, Javier discovers that Luna and Verónica have an interest in the occult, and that Verónica seems to have amazing abilities to see the future, the past, and even communicate with the dead, like Andrés, Luna’s brother, whose fate Javier doesn’t understand: is he dead, missing, or in hiding?

Thanks to some acquaintances of Verónica, Javier discovers that Emilio was taken to a clandestine prison, but he doesn't know more. This makes him even more worried, leading him to act recklessly, attracting the attention of the military, who start watching him closely.

One night, while Javier is at Luna and Verónica’s house, his parents and sister have gone out of the city. A group of heavily armed soldiers bursts into the house, but, thanks to a neighbor who informed on them, they head to Verónica’s house. Luna tells Javier to hide in the basement, while she and her mother start a ritual. From the basement, Javier hears Luna and Verónica’s voices, and then the soldiers pounding on the door until they finally break it down. The sound of gunfire and loud bangs fills the house. Suddenly, everything goes silent. Javier hears footsteps, and when he looks at the door, it opens. In silhouette, Luna appears, inviting him to meet her brother, who is with Emilio.
