- Leonid Kadenyuk was the first cosmonaut of independent Ukraine who took part in the international space mission STS-87 in 1997, military test pilot 1st class, Hero of Ukraine.
  He has passed away on January 31, 2018.
  What kind of man he was?

  Documentary feature Mission – Space is a story of life journey of the Hero of Ukraine, the man who participated in a successful space mission and after his triumphant return to his motherland, spent the rest of his life saving and implementing inventions and unique technologies by local scientists known abroad but almost never mentioned at home. We’ll follow him in his contemplations of importance of space exploration in order to give the rapidly growing humanity a chance for the its future.
  The project’s lead producer collaborated with Leonid Kadenyuk during the STS-87 mission and has access to exclusive footages shot during the astronauts’ 18-month training program – more than 40 hours of interviews with NASA officials, STS-87 crewmembers, Ukrainian and American scientists who prepared the experiments carried out by Kadenyuk while in orbit. They also documented the tensed moments of launch of Columbia, frank conversation with the Ukrainian astronaut the day before and an interview with his family few hours after the launch.
  The team of Mission – Space believe that Leonid Kadenyuk’s story will inspire the viewers to dream big and strive for making their dreams come true.
