- Synopsis
- 1936. The town of La Esperanza, in the Mexican desert, receives the news of the closure of the mine, its main economic engine, and with it the cancellation of the railway route, the only means of communication with civilisation. Durán, the young mechanic, sees his dream of becoming an engine driver frustrated and will have to choose between crossing the northern border, renouncing his roots and the love of his life, or helping a group of villagers who are resisting in the town with the craziest plan: to build their own steam train.
