    • Synopsis
    • Meanders is a visual and narrative journey along the Guaviare, a social and cultural mosaic, a stage on which the armed conflict and the drug trade unfold, revealing the perception of the indigenous and farming communities residing in the Colombian Amazon regarding their own territory.
Through a myriad of characters, the faces, the stories, the trails, the rivers that make the human context of the region tangible are discovered. Opposing the media’s narrative, which doesn’t recognize the communities’ perception on their own lands, during this odyssey the people and the images reveal the logic of the war, the logic of illegality and the cultural thinking of the communities that live in the Guaviare.
Meanders show the sinuous path that brings the communities together and sets them apart. The contradictions, the animosities and similarities across the land’s cultural mosaic are allegories to each of the river’s turns. The Meanders are a metaphor that relates the social conflict and the war with the territory of the communities.
