The Hungarian filmmaker pushed the boundaries of cinema, advocating for the artistic emancipation of women in the industry alongside contemporaries like Agnès Varda and Věra Chytilová.
The acquisition includes some of Mészáros’s most celebrated works, such as The Girl (1968), Adoption (1975, Berlinale Golden Bear), Diary for My Children (1984 Cannes Grand Prix), Diary for My Loves (1987), and Diary for My Father and Mother (1990).
