    • Synopsis
    • This story is based on real-life events that took place in France in the late 19th century.Born deaf and blind, Marie Heurtin, 14, cannot communicate. As a desperate last resort, Marie’s parents send their child to the Larnay Institute, near Poitiers, where nuns look after young deaf women.Despite the Mother Superior’s skepticism, one nun, Sister Marguerite, takes this «wild little animal» under her wing and does all she can to help Marie emerge from the night. Despite many setbacks and disappointments, armed only with her joyous faith and love for little Marie, Sister Marguerite succeeds.
