Synopsis
The estuary of the Tage River, in front of the metropolis of Lisbon, is prey to a power struggle that is more lucrative than drug trafficking: the collection of contaminated mollusks handpicked by poor people, and sold with false certificates by prosperous mafia groups. Hoa is one of the thousands of shellfish collectors, an illegal immigrant, like most of them. But the young Vietnamese girl dreams of a better future. Béa, an idealistic ecologist, arrives on the estuary to save the nature reserve threatened by the illegal traffic and by a pharaonic economic project. As new legislative elections are announced, the Tage estuary and its development become the spearhead of the politician of the hour, Carlos Ribeiro. The local indebted fisherman, and astute diver, Jorge, will cross their paths and have a lasting impact on their fates.
