- Synopsis
- Paris. May, 1968. The city is ablaze under the convulsions of a revolution. Man Ray, the forgotten genius who in more than one way has planted the seeds for such a rebellion, is about to be evicted from his small apartment right in the middle of the turmoil. Now 70, he awaits the visit of Roland Penrose, the famous critic and curator, who can change his fate with a major retrospective.
  It so happens that Penrose, who has been Man’s lifelong critic and rival, is now married to Lee Miller, the woman that Man taught to become a great photographer and remains his secret passion.
  Man’s wife, Juliet, asks him to control the resentment he feels towards the man who one day made the connection between one of Man’s most mysterious photographs, depicting the naked torso of a headless woman, and the most hideous crime in Hollywood’s history. The image haunts the visionary artist who has often blurred the limits between reality and dream.
  Will his lifelong nemesis grant the disgraced master the recognition he deserves?
  As he prepares for the confrontation locked in his darkroom while he choses the works he wants to be shown at the retrospective, Man plunges into the labyrinth of his past. Events in his turbulent life, by turns joyful and tragic, become tantalising clues to explore the mystery of the artist's creative genius.
  The journey takes us from his impoverished youth in Brooklyn to his glamorous life as a revolutionary photographer, his relationship with the most celebrated modern artists, and his passionate love affairs with three extraordinary women.
  The final confrontation between the artist and the curator turns into a surprising and poignant revelation.
