    • Synopsis
    • Santiago, Chile. Allende is president, the socialists rule, and the country is split. For FRANCISCO, an 11-year-old middle-class boy, life is about to transform. The radical headmaster at his private Catholic school, FATHER LEWERS, has enrolled non-fee-paying boys from the shanty town a few blocks away. One of them is MACHUCA.
The story is about FATHER LEWERS’s experiment, which echoes Allende’s, and FRANCISCO’s growing friendship with, and final betrayal of, Pedro MACHUCA.
