    • Nina is at the top of her game as a television talk show personality. She is famous for confronting guests with the fierceness of a wild tiger. There was not enough evidence in court to convict a man for murdering his wife; but Nina drills him with accusatory questions until he punches her. Then on the floor in a closeup with bloody nose, she proclaims to the audience this is The
Price of Truth. Nina’s partner Andrii, who is an executive at the channel, wants nothing more than to father a child. When he initiates daily morning sex, she makes it clear it has nothing to do with her. Nina could not care less about plans for their future because her life has already reached its summit. The diagnosis of stage 2 bone cancer prompts a round of chemotherapy
which Nina convinces her doctor to postpone for a bit and keep secret. Another night on the air, Nina confronts a young mother charged with beating and neglecting her young son. “Why,” Nina asks, “did you have the child knowing you were bi-polar.” The woman responds that she is now in therapy and should have the right to see her son. Nina presses her point, until the young woman stops her in her tracks. “Do you feel supreme? Have you never been loved?”
Andrii welcomes Nina home from the business trip, which was secretly four days of chemo. The refrigerator has been emptied of its regular contents and filled with only green things, which Nina advises will shield them from negative energy. Andrii reports that the channel management is complaining about Nina’s program. She does not respond. He asks about the money withdrawn from their bank account, which Nina explains went to help her mother and will be paid back. In fact, she has told no one that her mother has been dead for a year.
Back at work, Nina flies into a rage when her stylist imagines her nausea signals pregnancy. She breaks down and lets her producer in on her secret. In the studio, she is pale as a ghost and clearly not herself but manages to muster a big smile for the cameras.
That night, she confesses to Andrii that she is in deep waters. He had imagined she had a lover. Andrii becomes a pillar of support through her treatment, as Nina begins to fashion a place in her heart for love and
      compassion.
