    • Synopsis
    • Shelly (Nash Laila), a young dancer who dreams of becoming a Brega singer - a romantic and sensual musical scene from the Recife suburbs, began her career in a band that survives on its former hits, performing in nightclubs and on local television programs. Jaqueline (Maeve Jinkings), the veteran singer of the band, is her inspiration and possible mirror of her destiny. Mature and experienced Jacqueline knows the fleetingness of success and predicting the end of the band sets up a presentation in which she sings with her young and talented boyfriend Allan (Samuel Vieira) to propose a new band to her manager. To her surprise, the manager decides to invest immediately in the promising solo singer-songwriter, an event that ends up destroying their relationship and hastens the end of her and the band’s career. Placed in a world where everything is disposable, success, love and human relationships, they go down the difficult path in pursuit of survival through art which seems to be the last resort.
Overcome by failure and tired of the nightlife of bars and cheap concerts, Jacqueline decides to abandon her career.
A meeting between Shelly and Allan in the backstage at a nightclub ignites a great passion. He even composes a song inspired by her. For Shelly, it’s the greatest love of her life and the chance to realize her dream of becoming a singer. For Allan, it’s just another episode that he soon abandons.
Love, Plastic and Noise is a contemporary fable of realistic tones. The film goes through the deep and parallel universes of two women in search of their dreams and a city, Recife, in boiling development dreaming of its future by destroying its past.
Both placed in an unofficial and peripheral, poor and rich, real and dreamlike, romantic and sexually appealing contemporary culture. Revealing a country where dreams are always smaller than life. Where the colours, transparent fabrics and bright and intense lights hide, in fact, a far greyer reality.
