    • A young, freethinking teacher named LOTUS seems a rebel in the eyes of her rigid colleagues. After having been expulsed by the school for her relationship with a married man, she decided to leave the small town to go to Beijing, trying to live an honest new life by working in a news agency. But very soon she finds out that what she has to tell in the newspaper is lie. In trouble again, she has to work as waitress in a bar and sleep in an underground tiny room.
      A rich man falls in love with her but she doesn’t. Before she makes her decision to accept the love of the man, a policeman who believes she’s a prostitute tries to rap her. Dreams broken, she’s facing two choices: continue suffering, or give up what she was looking for to obtain a life with material comforts.
