- Synopsis
- Lila is 40 years old when her recent partner, Germán Baraja, beats her to death shortly after receiving the news of her pregnancy. Perverse, revulsive and cowardly psychopath, Germán narrates fragments of the relationship from the fatal outcome and reveals his own impossibility of adaptation and empathy with the environment. The plot is intertwined with Lila's life story: her childhood as the daughter of a diplomat, her former fame as a television actress, her delicate health and the adventures of a very particular family environment.
  Far from repenting for the crime, Germán embodies the most violent and sick reactions of the remnants of a machismo that refuses to disappear.
  Owner of prose as beautiful as it is forceful, Unamuno confirms himself in this book as one of the most unique voices in current Argentine literature, while revealing the splinters of a society sick with patriarchy.
