After surviving the harsh training routine under the terrifying Atsushi Dojo (Okada), Iku Kasahara (Eikura) is now a fully-fledged member of the special Library Defence Task Force, an armed unit set up to defend the freedom to read.
Dojo and the rest of the Task Force are ordered to guard a public exhibition featuring The Handbook of Library Law, a book widely seen as the symbol of freedom and of which there is only one existing copy. The assignment appears to be misleadingly simple – and is in fact a trap designed to wipe out and so disband the Task Force. The mastermind behind the plot is Satoshi (Tori Matsuzaka), the brother of Kasahara’s colleague Hikaru Tezuka (Fukushi).
With Satoshi’s plan leading to an attack on the Task Force by the Betterment Squad, the paramilitary arm of the Censorship Agency, one by one the Task Force members fall.
So can Dojo and his unit defend the invaluable book and themselves as they put their lives on the line in the greatest battle they have ever faced?
