- Synopsis
- I consider myself as a person who is an insider and outsider to my natal village in southeast of Turkey. At the age of thirteen to pursue my studies, and because of the absence of a middle school in late 90s, I quit the village against the consent of my parents. Then I obtained an engineering diploma and left Turkey to work in Iraq and Afghanistan as a civil engineer in army bases. After working three years in these bases, I realized that this was not the lifestyle I wished to live and I began to write. That led me to cinema and the subjects I wrote about, ironically, led me back to my natal village. I’m born into a close-Arab community and the locals still follow a traditionalist Muslim mode of life. I was returning regularly though I lost the true emotional connexion with my relatives. This project began when my brother Mahmut took a decision to divorce his newly wed wife and my sister wanted to end her engagement with her cousin.
