- Synopsis
- Michel dies leaving behind him his distraught widow, Eve, and a mountain of debts. Fortunately, Chollet, a friend and lawyer like her husband, absorbs the debts and helps her recover her taste for life. Chollet grows closer and she makes advances. At first reticent, and worried about her health, Chollet falls in love with the young woman. When she learns that Chollet might have brought about Michel's ruin in the hope of getting closer to her, Eve takes fright and avoids him. But passion gets the better of her resolutions.
