Between its abandoned suburbs, the radical depletion of its natural resources, the permanent nihilism of its culture, Las Vegas has become the city of the end of the world, crystallizing all of our anxieties, fascinating superficial Babylon. Jarret Keene and David Parker are two post-apocalyptic punk band singers and authors. If the first one is a 40 year old father of two young kids, who hesitates between his family life and a destructive artistic career, David, 27 years, is a “crisis child” from Vegas, who grew up in the limitless blowing suburbs of the desert and doesn’t want kids because of the dark future. Both are singing the end of Vegas as a metaphore for the world, but also as a scream of hatred towards their own city, not without a certain sense of humour: what happens to the meaning of life in a city condemned to disappear? What does the future look like? “Beyond the illness to be a 2 millions city in the meddle of the west dry desert, and beyond the globalisation of casino resorts, Las Vegas had reached his climax and is now returning to sand. At least, let’s try to see something in it...” Florent Tillon
