    • Synopsis
    • «Landowner» is a close and self-parodic portrayal of a documentary filmmaker and his fallen bourgeois family in both past and present Argentina. It is a satire with hints of historical revisionism and pseudo-environmentalism, exploring topics such as the exploitation of genetically modified soybeans, the distribution of large estates during the Conquest of the Desert, the unknown role of mestizaje in the classist Argentine society of the 1800s, and the merciless mistreatment endured by both indigenous people and African slaves. It is a bittersweet comedy about a great-grandfather who abused black children and ultimately met his accidental demise at the hands of an indigenous person, who inadvertently slit his throat.
