Former guerrilla commander Ramiro Dorado Mendez is reluctant to relive his past, but is compelled to make a perilous journey to La Gorgona, a remote island penal colony now fallen into overgrown jungle ruin. He was imprisoned here in inhuman conditions for the bombings he carried out for the National Liberation Army (ELN). The film descends with him into the venomous jungle as well as into the depths of his tortured mind to relive in blood-chilling detail his reckless escape from the darkest evils of men. Told in a first- person, interior monologue, his story will explore the foundations of extremism, as seen against the background of the Colombian civil war that has been raging for more than half a century.
