    • Synopsis
    • Journey is a movie filmed in Motupe, a town on the coast of Lambayeque, away from the capital of Peru, Lima. It is a regional story, made by local filmmakers, that rescues the traditions of the town and that has been built together with its inhabitants. It is a cinema against the current of the narratives dictated by big cities productions.

It tells the story of Gabriel (50) who, when evicted by cancer, decides to go on a journey and await death in Motupe, a devout town on the desert Peruvian coast. Gabriel spends his days rebuilding a mud wall and strolling along the river, where he meets Gladys (17), who is believed to have miraculous powers. Gladys is beginning to explore her sexuality and is curious about Gabriel, who relapses. Gladys finds out and tries to convince him to cure him, but he doesn't believe it. A relationship determined by illness and desire is born between them, which culminates in Gabriel's visceral sacrifice during the Feast of the Cross.
