A film, as a confessional. People go to church. People sit alone on a pew, people pray to Jesus, who is everything to them: Father and friend, saviour and rescuer, guide and wailing-wall, talker, silent one, loving one. One is a student who attends mass, every day, against his parent’s wishes. He spends nearly all his free time in the parish and tells Jesus all his regrets, his erotic fantasies and his dreams of being a hero. Another is a mother of two, who spends as much time in church, as at home. Where, for years she has cared for her paralysed husband. She deeply prays that Jesus may heal her husband, a Moslem, who in turn sees his illness as God’s punishment for having married a Christian. Then, there is the retired chemistry teacher who has been cheated on by her partner, with another woman. In her prayers she yearns for revenge. But isn’t revenge a sin? Like so many others, she comes to Church to complain, to collaborate, to ponder, to confess, to brood and to pray to Jesus for forgiveness.
