    • Synopsis
    • Yıldırım Türker claims in his column of March 9, 2003, published in the Radikal newspaper:

“The underground of a city is the subconscious of that city. The culture of a society is shaped by the degree of permeability between the underground and aboveground. The history of a city could be written on the basis of the history of its underground”.
‘Could we speak about an underground in ancient Istanbul, the one an only, out of reach of mainstream communication channels?
‘Is there any underground producing an alternative culture?’
‘Are there any alternative life style and people living underground??’
‘Are there anybody daring to live beyond consent of the majority?’

In search of answers, the movie Intermezzo takes us on a journey to Fikret Adil’s Pera in 30s. Our guide is reed flute player, sufi and satirist, Neyzen Tevfik who will take us on this journey as he took the young people who enrolled in the “Wandering Dervish School” from tavern to tavern, teaching them to drink raki, to listen to the reed flute, to roll a joint and to observe the world in awe.
