    • Synopsis
    • Paso de la Cueva, a small border town between Uruguay and Brazil, is dry, dusty, and trapped in time. Martín, a man defeated by failure, has returned after his career as an economist in Montevideo collapsed. Now stuck in his old family home and working a frustrating job at the local technical school, Martín dreams of escaping to Brazil, where he's processing immigration papers as a last attempt to flee a haunting past.

The suicide of Tomás, his former lover, continues to torment him. His relationship with Laura, a lifelong friend and fellow teacher, crumbles under the weight of secrets and unresolved pain. One day, while walking along rural paths, Martín stumbles upon a grotesque, dying creature. He takes it home, unable to resist its repulsive yet compelling presence.

The creature begins to change. Its dry skin turns moist and pulsating, growing larger as it seems to feed on something Martín cannot quite grasp. The creature becomes a tangible manifestation of his guilt and repressed desires, invading his mind, body, and daily life. Disturbing dreams consume him, blending images of Tomás with the creature, as his connections to Laura and the townspeople unravel.

In a final act of desperation, Martín attempts to discard the creature. But as he faces it, he collapses, unable to resist the grotesque bond they've formed. The creature enters his body, completing a symbiotic union of horror and pleasure. The next morning, Martín appears calm as he packs for Brazil, but a tentacle emerges from his mouth—a reminder that he can never truly escape what lies within.
