    • Brad and his grandfather George, a Maori elder, convince young marine biologist Laura Jones to look into reports of a huge creature living in the depths of an isolated harbour. They insist it's a taniwha - a legendary water monster. Laura is excited that it might be a 'Lazarus Taxon' - a species which reappears long after it has been declared extinct. They cross swords with Carl Hammond, the local cop investigating a string of unsolved deaths. Eventually they have to confront the terrifying truth.
