Accused by students of insensitivity and potential racism, esteemed Berlin University Professor Dan Sherman, navigating the current woke climate, opts to forego confrontation. Instead, he apologizes, self-suspends, and retreats to a remote Greek island, anticipating clearance from a committee for his return to work. Taking refuge in a colleague's vacation home, Sherman unexpectedly forms a bond with Lydia, dubbed the "Queen of Tinos," and her aspiring actor son George. Fate intervenes when the affluent family of the protesting black student vacations on the island. Viewing it as an opportunity to reconcile, Dan's efforts backfire, leading to a tragedy for all involved. Upon the committee's eventual clearance, revealing the innocence of his classroom remarks, it's too late. Dan, in exile, discovers the latent racism within himself, a revelation that shadows his return to the desired post.
