    • Synopsis
    • Young Ryan keeps a dozen sheep on his own little farm. They are a special breed, with long ears that stand up straight. They’re very cute, especially the lambs, which Ryan bottle feeds.

It’s all very innocent, you would think, were it not for the fact that Ryan tends this flock within the walls of the Young Offenders Center. This is a prison for young people between the ages of 18 and 21, part of Hydebank Wood Prison just outside Belfast.

We see him doing his laundry, calling his mother and walking back and forth from the makeshift barn to his cell. Along the way, he talks about his life in prison and how he ended up here. His grandfather, his uncle and his father have also been in prison. We never actually find out what crime he committed—only that it was grim, and that it still haunts him.
