- Synopsis
- Natalie and Felix are traveling around Italy for the summer after a rocky patch in their relationship when they stumble across an old wine bar. The landlord greets them with a mysterious vintage that’s like nothing they have ever tasted in their lives. When they demand to buy bottle for themselves they’re outright refused but told they may be able to get one at the châteaux where they produce the wine. Infatuated, the couple make the journey and are greeted by the owners; William and Mary Cavendish, a middle aged aristocratic couple that wouldn’t look out of place in a sordid swingers party. As luck would have it, the harvest is in a few days and the couple accept the invitation to work on it in exchange for the precious beverage and a place to stay. They are, however, forbidden from entering the barrel room.
  Natalie becomes increasingly uneasy as they befriend fellow grape pickers only for them to be unexpectedly absent the next day; “Oscar had to fly home early” the master vintner tells them.
  
  That evening Felix goes for a swim in the outdoor pool where Mary Cavendish attempts to seduce him. Natalie finds them and cries out, believing him to be up to his old tricks. The argument is cut short, however, by their final remaining friend; Samantha, who is distraught that her wife has gone missing.
  
  A desperate search ensues until only one place is left; the barrel room. Felix bursts down the door to find Samantha’s wife hung up by her hands and feet. She is crying with a rag in her mouth. The rest of the room is decorated with the remains of their friends; hung drawn and quartered, tubes feeding from their veins directly into the wine barrels. They are using human blood in the wine.
  
  They have to escape but Samantha can’t abandon her wife. They try to release her. It’s no use. They must leave her. Felix and Natalie make it to the front door. As they open it they are confronted by the Vintner. Felix manages to kill the Vintner but as he pulls himself to his feet, almost free, he’s struck from behind… by Natalie. Waking up, tied and bound he discovers that Natalie is actually in on everything. Mary and William are her parents. She has brought Felix there to die for his infidelities.
