    • It follows the life of JOSEPH BROWN, one of the lost teenage boys of the Great War - who's bravery and inexperience will be both his biggest savour and his downfall.

He loses his best friend GABRIEL FROST (also 16) when he is moved to another division - he is the reason Joseph is here in the first place. Gabriel introduces Joseph to a place he was told about, a place that many soldiers from the front lines have been . . . The HOUSE OF LACE . . . a brothel set up by ruthless LADY ADELINE. There Joseph meets BERENICE a young prostitute. She is the woman he will fall in love with. The one he will abandon his post on the front line for, evading both the British and the German forces. For Joseph it means death if caught by either - by firing squad or on the fields.
