    • Synopsis
    • Junior is a young player for Bacaxá A.C., an amateur football team from the city of Saquarema, in the state of Rio de Janeiro’s north coast.
Junior plays alongside Bento, his childhood best friend. Bento is the team’s biggest star and has a contract in place for the professional league. Junior is a fully committed ath- lete and a hard worker, yet Bento is more interested in chasing girls and getting drunk - luck seems to be always on his friend’s side.
Meanwhile, Junior also has to deal with his girlfriend’s un- expected pregnancy, her mother’s constant worries for their future, and his alcoholic uncle (who could throw him out of the house in a heartbeat).
As he realizes his dream of becoming a major football star may fall apart, Junior’s jealousy of Bento’s life grows, until it reaches dangerous proportions.
“Hopefuls” follows his struggles against a growing envy that could jeopardise the love for his best friend and his girlfriend.
