Synopsis
When Michael’s parents are killed in a car crash, he and his younger brother are split up and Michael, 14, is sent to live in a city far from his outport home. He tries to adjust in spite of trouble at school and the dictates of his authoritarian uncle Ted. But when his uncle’s fist comes down hard once too often Michael decides to run away, and his timid cousin Curtis begs to join him. Together the boys disappear into the wilds of an isolated national park. Michael is determined to find the secret place his dead father loved, and as the boys journey ever deeper into the wilderness, their quest proves more dangerous than either could ever have imagined. Adapted from the classic Governor General Award-winning Newfoundland novel by Kevin Major.
