- Synopsis
- Helen is a 9-year-old girl living in a tenement in Bixiga – a neighborhood in São Paulo known for its large concentration of immigrants and migrants. Born in a poor and broken family, the girl lives with her grandmother, Dona Maria, who also fulfills the role of mother and father. Between playing around, going to school and helping her grandma with home chores, Helen lives the neighborhood life fully. Still naive, she spends the days oblivious to the harshness of her reality and her main concern is to raise money to buy the perfect birthday gift for her grandma: a complete makeup set.
