    • Synopsis
    • Hayato Arima has just transferred to a new school at the end of his freshmen year of senior high. Despite good looks, he lacks social skills and comes off as a bit scary. But he attracts the attention of classmate, Tsukasa Shinohara, who eyes him curiously. He compliments her on her masculine name, and he covers for her when she is late to class. Soon, the two are friends and the gentleness he shows seems exclusive to her, which makes Tsukasa’s heart beat a little faster.

On the last day of their second year of high school, Tsukasa is encouraged by a friend to trust in her feelings, and decides to finally confront Arima with a confession of love. Despite low expectations, she goes ahead only to be crushed when he flatly rejects her. “I just don’t see you that way,” he tells her.

Enter their senior year, and Tsukasa is once again sharing a homeroom with Arima. They remain friends but her one-way love for him continues to build. He is, after all, uniquely kind to her. Far from giving up, Tsukasa tells him as much. “I’m going to keep trying.” Meanwhile, she overhears classmate Yasuhiro Hasebe, remarking that Arima used to date his cousin. Crestfallen but not defeated, Tsukasa attends a school orientation camp where she encounters that very ex-girlfriend, Mayu, who attends a rich girl’s finishing school, and asks Tsukasa to help her patch things up with Arima. Naturally, this sudden appearance of a high-grade rival for Arima’s affections troubles Tsukasa. Hasebe, meanwhile, is himself trying to make sense of new feelings that have germinated inside him towards Tsukasa. Soon, he’s donning a pained and lovesick expression whenever he sees her.

With Hasebe now looking to win Tsukasa’s heart at every turn, Arima too begins to feel his heart vacillate. But Arima has a history and connection with Mayu that Tsukasa can’t compete with, blocking her progress. But a lot can happen in their tumultuous senior year. Will Tsukasa’s awkward honesty be her salvation or undoing? Will a devotion to true feelings ultimately be worth the repeated injury and frustration? Find out.
