- The year 2030, the Ozone layer has been depleted beyond repair and a massive heat wave wipes out 80% of all life forms through direct heat, floods, radiation, lack of food and water. Fertility is a miracle. Direct heat burns like a stove. Diana loses her military husband and daughter trying to make it to the army base with her brother-in-law Cha Cha. Seven years later, she is a medic at the base when she discovers the army has a boy conceived and born after the heat wave making him immune to radiation. The army has a deal to supply anti- radiation serums to the Chinese and are ready to extract the boy’s blood even if it leads to his death.
  
  She escapes the run-down army base with the boy. While hiding from the army she runs into Kman Ali a militia who leads her to an underground sanctuary called Guatha hidden in plain view. Their leader, a medicine woman keeps the sanctuary in order but a faulty water pump threatens their survival. There she meets her brother-in-law Cha Cha who blames her for the death of his brother and niece. The tensions rise when Cha Cha discovers the boy is a risk to Guatha due to his immunity to radiation. The army is not too far behind. Cha Cha demands Diana and the boy leave, but Ali who has warmed up to her fights for her to stay. She offers to get a working pump for Guatha in exchange for the boy staying.
  
  Cha Cha attempts to kill her after she gets the pump to avenge the death of his brother. In the process the army finds them and are forced to reveal the location of the boy or die. After a devastating attack at Guatha, the boy is taken by the army. Diana unable to take the loss of another child goes after him and raises hell to save him.
