    • Synopsis
    • With Jean-Claude Carrière as a guide, GOYA, CARRIERE AND THE GHOST OF BUNUEL is a journey through the work and life of the painter Francisco de Goya (1746-1828).
From light to darkness, from the ancient world to modern times, how did Goya become the visionary painter that he was and remains?
Goya painted 300 years ago and yet, is still relevant.

The film is also the last journey of Jean-Claude Carriere, one of the most prolific scriptwriters of all times (for Buñuel, with Belle de Jour & That Obscure Object of Desire but also Valmont, Cyrano de Bergerac and At Eternity’s Gate).
There is no one better than Carriere to explain Goya, an Old Master and a Modern prodigy, a painter admired by Manet, Picasso, Bunuel.

Travelling to Goya’s key places, diving into his abundant work, the filmmaker José Luis López-Linares (Bosch: The Garden of Dreams) and Jean-Claude Carrière invite us to a journey into human genius.
