    • Synopsis
    • After 10 years spent in the "Islamism International system", which took him from France to London via Bosnia & Afghanistan, Hamid comes back to his hometown in northern France to accomplish a mission: the murder of Imam Sahraoui. Sahraoui was a member of the "organisation" and the Cheikh money man. He set up the political islamist theory in the late 80's. In 2000, he quits the "organisation" and takes refuge in northern France, in Hamid's hometown.
Hamid doesn't want his family to know that he's back, as everyone thinks he died in Bosnia.
Rafiq, 17, is Hamid's little brother. He doesn't do much in that working-class neighbourhood of that small town. He has only one thing in mind: set-up his one-man show. He already got his character, an ignorant islamist terrorist. After school, he either goes to the Improvisation league or to the Imam Sahraoui mosque. Sahraoui has gain respectability in the neighbourhood. He gets attached to Rafiq who keeps questioning him about religion. Rafiq even tells Sahraoui about his goal and Sahraoui accepts to advise him provided that Rafiq doesn't gets into blasphemy.
Despite his professionalism, Hamid couldn't refrain from seeing Rafiq who quickly understands that Hamid won't answer his questions, so he shocks him when he tells that their mother is dying.
Rafiq helps Hamid to find Samia who works for a trendy clothes shop. Samia was living in the same neighbourhood and they were quite close with Hamid. One could consider them as engaged.
Their separation was tough. A few weeks later, when Hamid came back from London for a week-end, Samia tells him she had an abortion after they went to holidays. Hamid is stunned and doesn't understand why she didn't say anything. She tried to explain but he didn't want to understand.
Along with his dive into his past, Hamid keeps focusing on his mission. He spots his target, and, one night, abducted Imam Sahraoui. Sahraoui keeps calm, faces his certain death and accepts his fate. He finishes his prayer, rolls his eyes: "I'm ready, my son". Hamid, a closed expression on his face shots Sahraoui in the back of the head.
Hamid must take a ferry to England in Calais to get on a plane to Pakistan. Before that, he wants to see his mother, but she is totally unconscious. Hamid looks at her quietly and puts on the bedside table a polaroid picture of Rafiq and him. He gets back to his hotel and learns about Commander Massoud's murder.
Hamid writes a letter to his brother, takes a soda can and spills it onto the computer to destroy it. Later, the room only enlightened by the TV screen, Hamid stands up against the wall of the bathroom, bare chested and his face crumpled. He tries but does not manage to shoot himself in the head.
At the seaport, he discards his rental car and embarks on the last ferry to England. Hamid stands up alone, in the middle of the night, on the ferry's deck. He looks at the ship reflections on the water sea. He suddenly steps over the ship's railing and dives into the sea
