- Synopsis
- Bogota, 50s. Arrive letters to Bogotá with diverse testimonies of protest from Chocó. The young Gabriel García Márquez is employed at the newspaper El Espectador as a reporter. Guillermo Cano, the director of the newspaper entrusts him a visit to Quibdó for the coverage of a news about a civil disorder due to the fact that the department of Chocó is going to disappear. Gabo travels and arrives to a desolate Quibdó, nobody in the streets can be seen until he meets a languid gentleman; the protests and those manifestations do not exist, says the gentleman. Gabo overwhelmed by the situation entrusts him to help to invent a manifestation because he won’t have news to count. Both organize protests indeed, initially the people act artificially but the hours, the days are passing by and the people begin to adapt to their characters. The news is propagating in all the country and a great mass meets to give an enterteining turn and surprise to the political and social situation.
